With its Windstopper Soft Shell front panels, the Gore Xenon SO Long Sleeve Jersey can do the job of two garments for chilly late/early season rides. It insulates like your favorite jersey, and like a packable vest or jacket, it also blocks the cold winds that are just part of riding in the off-season. In our book, fewer layers equates to more comfort and freedom of movement.Gore designed the Xenon Jersey to be worn next-to-skin, but it can certainly be shingled over a short sleeve jersey or baselayer. The Windstopper panels are found across the front of the torso and along the front of the arms. The beauty of the selective paneling is that the cold wind is deflected, yet any excess body heat that you generate is allowed to escape out the sides and back of the jersey through the brushed fleece polyester fabric. In another nod to ventilation, two side zips flank the windproof front panel. They allow a more moderate introduction of cool air into the jersey than you'd get if you simply opened up the full-length front zipper. Zippered forearms also allow some comfort management should the weather get too warm while out on the ride, and they facilitate getting in and out of the jersey.Gore gives the Xenon SO Jersey what they call their tight fit. It's cut for on-the-bike posture to minimize wrinkles and excess material. The sleeves are pre-articulated to accommodate a natural, relaxed bend at the elbows, and the tall collar has an ergonomic design with a shallow crescent shaped relief so it won't bunch on the back of your neck when you're fully zipped and in the drops.The Xenon Jersey has three pockets on the back. The outer two are angled down towards the outsides for easier access to your stowed goods, and a zippered fourth pocket is semi-hidden on the middle pocket. It provides secure storage for credit cards or keys. The Gore Xenon SO Long Sleeve Jersey is available in Black/black and Black/red and comes in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.
